Purpose

Families who are caring for members with special needs face daily challenges that can be overwhelming.

The purpose of the Wellness G.I.F.T.S. Retreats is to provide a break from these demanding tasks, and give parents, caregivers and siblings a chance to replenish their spirits and rekindle their energies.

Families can relax, network with people in similar situations and develop stronger relationships within their own family.

Educational workshops and events are offered to the families, health care-providers and professionals on a variety of issues relating to disabilities. Topics may include current medical approaches, complementary treatment strategies, legal and financial issues and relationship and confidence building.

Therapeutic Services are available for family members, including the individuals with special needs. Treatment appointments can be made for therapeutic massage. Sessions offered:

Recreational Activities are held at Hickory Hill Family Camping Resort, integrating campers and retreat participants. Planned activities include arts and crafts, hay rides, bingo, sport games, dinners, talent shows and more.

Recreation facilities include two swimming pools, mini-golf course, kid's fishing, playground, basketball court, volleyball, horseshoes, badminton, softball and soccer fields and hiking trails.
